How common is Drunk Driving?

  Drinking alcohol and operating a motor vehicle is known as driving under the influence (DUI) or impaired driving. Bicycles, motorcycles, golf carts, boats, jet skis, and lawnmowers are various types of motor vehicles. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 10,265 persons died in alcohol-related traffic crashes in 2015, accounting for 29 per cent of all motor vehicle traffic fatalities in the US. Each year, 1.5 million people are handcuffed for driving under the influence of alcohol. Impaired driving is still a significant traffic safety and public health concern. Driving with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.08 or above is banned in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. The percentage of alcohol in the bloodstream is known as BAC.
